Personal&shared knowledge

After I heard those weird terms, I was rather confused as they sound pretty mysterious, but in fact understanding and using them properly is not  complicated at all.

Personal knowledge is the kind of knowledge is the one that we gained by our personal expierence, the one that can be testified by us, because we know that the particular statement is real, became convinced about it ourselves, we experienced it.

I know that my mom loves bananas-----> I know that because she told me/ I'm buying bananas for hery every day/ I saw her eating a lot of bananas, so it's the matter of my own experience.

I know that when I eat too many sweets I feel nausea----->I know that because I had unpleasant situations after doing that and I learned the disadvantages of overeating sweets on my own :)

Personal knowledge also consists of our own opinions that don't have to be supported by anyone else, but don't have to be shared with anybody as well.

What is a shared knowledge then?
I understand it as  a knowledge that was shared with someone some time ago and now became simply obvious and widely known.

Russia is the biggest country in the world---->it was proved by someone and now it's a common fact
Why isn't it a personal knowledge? Because we didn't calculate the area of Russa on our own. This fact can be the personal knowledge of the person that spent time measuring Russian borders etc :)

The Second World War took place in years 1939-1945----->this was shared with us through our parents, grandparents, media, books, history lessons, we didn't take part in it, so we can't call it our personal knowledge. We didn't witness it exact course, results :)

The basic difference between those two kinds of knowledge is the fact that the personal knowledge is generally our own opinion, so is the statement ''I know that God exists'' because it's our personal belief and it wasn't previosously shared with us.

I guess, there are many aspects in this area that are worth disccusing, mentiong, but it's the topic for another reflection. :)  After this TOK class I really started to look differently at some statements, more critically and I'm honestly happy that I gained the knowdledge in this brand. (it was shared with me, but I didn't have to acknowledge it/like it, so now it's my personal knowledge, based on my own opinion :D) And most importantly I can impress my friend with nice TOK facts!
